Assemble materials.

  • Body: You will need something for the turtle body. We had pipe cleaners. You could also use Popsicle sticks, straws, twigs.
  • Shell: Yarn
  • Extras: I had some wooden beads we used for the head and feet. Depending on the body material, you could just leave it, or draw with marker, or glue cardboard, or add googly eyes.

Form a 5 or 6-pointed shape for the body.

Wrap yard around the middle. Build it up pretty well, this is the middle of the shell.

Then, wrap yarn around each appendage, a la god’s eye craft from day camp long ago. Hum Kumbaya.

You will end up with a strange creature that you may decide looks more like another animal. Like a flying squirrel. That’s ok! You can call it whatever you’d like. Give yourself a pat on the back for making it through this one.
